Barbet Satine earns her WC title with the CKC

Congratulations to another Barbet Fanciers Association breeder member, Ula Pepper, as she is amoung the first Canadian owner/handler teams to earn her Barbet its Working Certificate title with the CKC.
Thursday September 29th 2011, at the Mill Creek Retriever Club working certificate tests, Satine became the 4th Barbet in Canada to earn her Working Certificate Title. The Barbet has only been elgible to compete for a WC, WCI and WCX title since January 2011. The Barbet is a happy and loyal breed of dog, and although rather impish and goofy at times, the breed can and will settle in and do the job at hand.

New Litter of Barbet Puppies…Nappyroots Kennels

Can Ch. Nelum-Himalis Daphne whelped 8 healthy & beautiful Barbet puppies on September 1. Can Ch. Chmurnik z Gorki Podduchownej is the sire. They had 5 boys (3 black, 1 brown and 1 fawn) and 3 girls (2 black and 1 fawn). All are a very nice weight ranging from 445g to 330g. Daphne is doing well and does not leave her puppies at all.
Daphne was an amazing natural whelper and did all the work for herself.

Congratulations to breeder members’ Chris and Ula Pepper of The Friendly Barbet ~ Nappyroots Kennels. What a miracle! So nice to see these old colours reemerging in recent days. Daphne’s sister Deetha in Finland was the first fawn Barbet born after many years, and then her half sister Enigma born just over a year later. Currently there are 4 fawn pups just born in Finland sired by Daphne’s brother Diamant. Now, these 2 fawn pups are the first in Canada and to be born in Canada as well!

Sanction Match

Our second sanction match was a whole lot of fun this past Wednesday night. The match was held for all of Group 1 (Sporting group) and we had dogs from the Nova Scotia Duck Toller, Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Barbet and many more. The event was outdoors and the night turned out to be great with weather to match. It was a lot of fun to see some of the puppy families also bring out their sexually altered pups and watch them have some fun in the ring. Thanks to our organizers, our judges and our participants.
