Membership of this group is not limited to Barbet owners or breeders, nor is it limited to geography. With so few Barbet in the world (2010 was less than 1400 worldwide) this group is committed to education, co-operation and networking. Accepted membership is subject to a short probationary status, declined membership is subject to a written letter stating the reason for the decision. Also, membership is subject to accountability of its’ members and rightly so can be revoked and/or reinstated at any time with just cause.

Barbet Fanciers is a group made primarily of Canadians who join together for the common interest of the Barbet. Our fanciers council meet throughout the year at different locations to discuss matters that directly affect the group, as well as the Barbet. Funds raised during our Membership and Calendar Drive are used for the Barbet Rescue expenses, purchasing event materials – such as ribbons, information packages, printing, honorariums for speakers/workers/judges, rental costs, web costs, etc. Our goal is to educate and inform people about this vibrant and versatile breed and promote healthy and ethical breeding practices. It is also our desire to provide support and encouragement to owners and breeders throughout this great country.
As a secondary function, the Barbet Fanciers also acts as a Rescue/Shelter for those Barbet who are needing placement due to unfortunate events that leave them homeless. With such a rare breed, the Barbet needs our protection and nurturing. Any questions, comments or concerns can be addressed to the email link in the correspondence section. Membership is $25.00 per person or $35.00 per family. (19 yrs+, voting for Ontario residents only)
Associate Membership is $5.00 (18 yrs and younger, a non voting position)
